Blackburn has been a great fit for me. I am receiving a great education, I have had positive experiences in the Work Program and I have had the opportunity to play basketball.

Blackburn’s mathematics major will help you become the mathematician of the future. You will receive solid grounding in the traditional foundation areas of mathematics. You will learn about current advances in and applications of mathematics, engage in your own research and learn to communicate mathematical ideas clearly and effectively. Through Blackburn’s Work Program, you may have an opportunity to instruct others in mathematics.
Instruction in abstract and applied mathematics emphasize problem-solving skills. Current ideas in mathematics are explored in a special senior seminar.
Upon graduation, Blackburn mathematics majors find opportunities in many areas. These include teaching, actuarial sciences, statistics, operations research, decision sciences, management, government, graduate school and research. A dual degree in engineering and mathematics is another option. After spending 3 or 4 years at Blackburn, students complete the engineering program with two years of study at Washington University.
