My experience in the Work Program was crucial to my success in my current line of work. I am constantly using my communication skills, ability to work with diverse groups of people, organizational skills, mediation skills and leadership training in my everyday job tasks. The Work Program was a huge help to me in not only securing a job, but being successful in this career path.

All of the work of the college is divided into work departments. Each work department has a student manager and there are two student general managers. This group is referred to collectively as the Work Committee, which is responsible for the overall administration of the work program, including: setting and implementing policies, labor allocations and work discipline campus wide. Managers are hired from among applicants who meet a minimum grade point requirement, and who possess prior leadership experience at work or in extra-curricular activities.
The department managers hire assistant managers and crew heads in varying numbers depending upon the size and functions of the various departments. The “management teams” help the manager with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and general supervision of the student workers within their respective work departments.
Students have the opportunity to enhance their chosen major through the academic study of work and leadership in combination with “hands-on” experience by applying for admission into the Leadership Program. Successful completion of the program results in a Certificate of Leadership awarded with your diploma.
