The nomination form for membership on the Blackburn College Alumni Board of Directors is available on the next page and should be used to submit the name of any Blackburn Alum. Self-nominations will be accepted.
The Blackburn College Alumni Association accepts nominations for its Board of Directors throughout the year, but the process for recommending a Director candidate typically closes June 1. Each nomination will be forwarded to the current Board of Directors, to be reviewed and screened by its membership. The Board of Directors will present its recommendations of qualified candidates to the Alumni Association during its Annual Meeting at Homecoming where the election of new Directors will take place.
The Blackburn College Alumni Association, through its Board of Directors, strives to preserve the tradition of Blackburn College, namely, the Work Program, a liberal arts education, and a Christian environment within the Blackburn community. The Board of Directors is responsible for articulating the vision of the Association, establishing policies and setting direction that fulfill the mission and purpose of the Association, and overseeing the financial and administrative matters of the Association.
A full term of service to the Board is three years with opportunity to serve three terms or nine years. The Board meets no fewer than four times annually to conduct its business and members are also expected to attend the Alumni Association annual meeting held during homecoming. Candidates are sought who a) have demonstrated service to Blackburn College and the Alumni Association, b) possess leadership qualities and potential, c) demonstrate a strong work ethic, d) support the work program, e) desire to contribute their time and talents, and f) desire to advance the goals and objectives of the Association.
