The Admissions and Financial Aid teams will host Open House events on Monday\, October 14\, and Monday\, November 11\, beginning at 8:30 am. These events allow future first-time and transfer students to gather important information about the college application process. \nThroughout their time on campus\, prospective students and their families will explore and tour the beautiful 80-acre campus\, make personal connections with current students and professors\, and get to know what life is like as a Blackburn student. They will also see first-hand Blackburn’s unique approach to education—where students earn their degrees while building impactful skills and gaining real-world work experience–giving graduates a four-year head start to launch their future careers. \nFor Justin Norwood\, Vice President for Inclusive Enrollment and a Blackburn graduate\, these opportunities are valuable for prospective students and families because nothing is more important than finding a school that will be the best fit. “Finding the right college is more than just academics; it’s discovering a place where students feel supported and inspired to thrive\,” Norwood said. “At Blackburn\, our open house events provide an opportunity to experience what makes our community unique – the close mentoring relationships with peers and professors\, the ability to build critical skills and gain real-world work experience\, and a personalized financial aid approach that goes beyond affordability and is designed to meet the specific needs of every student.” \nBlackburn’s Admissions and Financial Aid team will be available throughout the event to answer all your questions\, including about opportunities like the Macoupin Promise – where qualified graduates of Macoupin County high schools can attend Blackburn tuition-free. \nFor more information and to register for an event\, go to Blackburn’s Visit page or email admissions@blackburn.edu. \n\nReserve Your Spot for October 14 >\nReserve Your Spot for November 11 >

SUMMARY:The Spooky and Proud Salon (Humanities Salon)
DESCRIPTION:The Blackburn Humanities Salon returns for the ’24-’25 school year with The Spooky and Proud Salon at 6 pm on Thursday\, Oct. 3 in Jaenke. October is LGBTQ+ history month and the month for all things Halloween\, so join us for our third annual celebration of all arts LGBTQ+ and/or gothic! Spooky refreshments\, including mysterious punch\, will be served\, and pride-themed stickers and flags will available for free. Costumes encouraged! \nHistorically\, a Salon was a gathering of people who came together to exchange and discuss intellectual and artistic ideas of the day. Fancy attire was worn and tea and cakes were served. To honor this tradition and establish a creative community at Blackburn for writers\, artists\, performers\, and lovers of all art\, the English & Communications hosts our own Humanities Salon on the first Thursday of the second and third months of the semester at 6 pm in Jaenke\, which is open to all students\, faculty\, and staff who want to: \n● read their own creative work; \n● perform a short musical\, theatrical\, dance\, or any stage act; \n● share and discuss an original work of art; \n● share any work of art of any medium that you simply love; \n● listen and be part of the creative community at Blackburn. \nWe hope to see you there!
