DESCRIPTION:The Blackburn Music Showcase\, Friday\, October 3 at 7:00 pm in Bothwell Auditorium\, will set the stage for the Music Program’s full 2024-2025 season. This performance displays a wide variety of choral\, solo\, and ensemble pieces that give the audience a sample of what music students and the Music Department will be working on for the next year. This season\, audience members can expect a preview of the folk music theme of this year’s staged production\, a glimpse of the beauty of Blackburn’s traditional lessons and carols service\, Christmas at Blackburn\, along with pieces that foreshadow our spring studio recital\, and a look at the culmination of the choir’s work for the season in the choir concert. \nThis event is free and open to the public.

Hosted by the Admissions and Financial Aid teams\, the event is open to both future first-time and transfer students who want to learn more about academic programs\, student life\, and the admissions process. \nDuring the event\, prospective students and their guests will tour Blackburn’s beautiful 80-acre campus\, meet current students and professors for personal conversations\, learn about campus life and the nation’s only student-managed Work Program\, connect with Admissions and Financial Aid counselors to discuss scholarship and aid opportunities\, and receive instant admissions decisions by bringing transcripts for review. \nJustin Norwood\, Vice President for Inclusive Enrollment and a Blackburn graduate\, emphasized how impactful the experience can be. “An Open House is more than just an information session. It’s an opportunity to imagine yourself as part of our community. You’ll not only meet professors and staff who are invested in your success\, but you’ll also connect with other prospective students who may end up becoming your first friends at Blackburn. DESCRIPTION:This semester’s staged production is occurring in collaboration with the City of Carlinville on Saturday\, October 18th at 11:00 am. \nDue to inclement weather\, the event will move from Tom Thumb Park to Bothwell Auditorium on the Blackburn College campus. \nThis performance will feature students performing both traditional and modern folk music along with accompanying guests from the community. The event will feature folk art\, poetry and food as well as music. \nThis event is free and open to the public.
