Athletic Director
AthleticsBlackburn College, a unique four-year liberal arts college with a student-managed work program located in Carlinville, IL, seeks applications for the position of Athletic Director. The Athletic Director will provide visionary leadership to enhance the athletic department, manage student athlete recruiting efforts, manage athletic facilities and equipment, provide administrative oversight to all athletics, intramurals, and club sports as well as collaborate with community partners for athletic opportunities. The Athletic Director will hire, supervise, and mentor coaches and staff members to ensure that all areas of the department function effectively to further departmental goals. This is a full-time, senior administrative position that will report directly to the College President. The successful candidate will collaborate with admissions regarding recruitment, promote the importance of the student-athlete experience, enhance the leadership and strength of the coaching staff, and collaborate with College stakeholders to build and maintain the infrastructure needed to support the growth of student-athletes on campus. Blackburn College is a Division III, four-year liberal arts college with 15 Varsity sports and is a member of the Saint Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC).
A Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of progressive Athletic Director experience is required for this position, while a master’s degree and some prior experience as an athletic administrator in a higher education setting is preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of Division III regulations and a demonstrated record of success in recruiting and retaining student-athletes and working collaboratively within the campus community are essential. Strong knowledge of coaching, student programs, human resources management, fiscal management, Title IX compliance, fundraising, and strategic planning are also required. The successful candidate will be available to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends during the academic year as needed.
