Blackburn College, a unique four-year liberal arts college with a student-managed work program located in Carlinville, IL, seeks applications for a college counselor. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and experienced clinician with a strong understanding of mental and emotional wellbeing and the role that counseling services play as a support for student engagement, academic excellence, and overall student well-being. The college counselor is responsible for the delivery of clinical skills and counseling interventions to Blackburn college students, both individually and in groups; to deliver effective programming regarding mental and emotional well-being to the college community; for serving as a member of the Early Alert Support Team (EAST) on matters of student retention and persistence. The successful candidate will be committed to innovative service and outreach and will strengthen
partnerships with faculty and staff to foster student success. The college counselor will report directly to the Director of Counseling Services.
The successful candidate will have documented experience enhancing student counseling services and substantive knowledge and skills in building relationships with students, maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality, delivering effective clinical interventions, and a thorough and comprehensive understanding of trauma-informed support services. A Master’s degree in counseling is required, as well as State of Illinois Counseling licensure or willingness to obtain a license.
