Director of Career Services and Experiential LearningWork Office
Blackburn College, a unique four-year liberal arts college with a student-managed work program located in Carlinville, IL, seeks applications for the Director of Career Services and Experiential Learning. The successful candidate will have experience working in a career services or human resources department, preferably in higher education. The ideal candidate will have experience with assisting students in the development of post-graduation plans such as graduate school, licensure programs, internships or co-ops, and workforce placement. We are seeking someone who can offer professional development workshops on campus such as resume writing, interviewing skills, and business etiquette. We also seek someone who can help students explore career options within their major fields, graduate school fairs, career fairs, and service learning and /or experiential learning opportunities. The successful candidate would be willing to proactively develop internal and external mentorship programs, especially with Blackburn’s extensive alumni, as well as bring speakers to campus for panel discussions on specific careers. The candidate must be willing and able to forge meaningful relationships across campus and the local community in an effort to provide strong internships, engagement with outside employers, and build links between academic coursework and work program experiences. The successful candidate will be committed to establishing internal and external outreach, and will strengthen partnerships with faculty and staff to foster student success and other duties as assigned by the Dean of Work. Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree with three years of professional experience related to the duties of this position is required.
