Blackburn College, a unique four-year liberal arts college with a student-managed work program located in Carlinville, IL, seeks applications for a Director of Institutional Research. The Director will plan and oversee the policies, goals, and operations of the Institutional Research Department.

Additional job functions include:

  • Coordinating the internal and external reporting needs of the College, including applicable state and federal reporting regulations (i.e. NCAA, IPEDS, IBHE).
  • Coordinating the cycle of institutional surveys of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Assisting the College in meeting regional accreditation requirements, this includes functioning as the Assurance System Coordinator and attending regional accreditation forums as necessary.
  • Supporting the strategic planning process and implementation; providing appropriate data and trend analysis for review.
  • Chairing the College Assessment Committee and training its members to be consultants for their colleagues throughout the College.
  • Ensuring the appropriate availability, to the college community, of institutional data to support data informed decision making and institutional effectiveness.
  • Coordinating end of course teaching evaluations and appropriately disseminates results.
  • Serving as staff to the College Planning Committee in order to assure that relevant and timely data are available and applied in college planning processes.
  • Supervising, teaching, mentoring, and evaluating a team of student workers who will assist in completing the tasks delineated above is required.
  • Representing the College at federal, state, and local level meetings, seminars, or conferences as appropriate and at professional organizations related to institutional research, taking a leadership role where appropriate.
  • Developing and administering departmental budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.

A master’s degree is required, doctorate preferred, for this position. The successful candidate will have training and experience in higher education, experience in IR and/or program assessment, and substantive knowledge and skills related to quantitative and qualitative research methods. Extensive experience in data analysis, data visualization, and familiarity with data analysis software (e.g. SPSS, R), data visualization (e.g. Power Bl, Tableau), and Microsoft Office is also required.
