Professor of Chemistry (Tenure-Track)

Blackburn College, a unique four-year liberal arts college with a student-managed work program located in Carlinville, IL, seeks applications for a full-time, teaching-focused, tenure track position in Chemistry for Fall 2024 with expertise in Organic Chemistry. Teaching duties will be in Organic and General Chemistry.

Qualifications for the position include:

  • a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related topics
  • a strong commitment to teaching and advising undergraduates
  • previous college-level teaching experience (preferred, but not required)
  • willingness and ability to mentor students in multiple contexts as part of the college’s signature student-managed work program
  • and committee service and active contribution to the growth and development of the Blackburn College is also expected

The Chemistry Department offers small class sizes and many opportunities to mentor, advise, and otherwise work closely with students in various tracks in the Biology major and Chemistry minor. New course development to support science students and also non-majors is welcome. The department has excellent facilities in a LEED certified building. There is generously sized, dedicated lab space to support teaching and undergraduate student research to each faculty member of the science department.
