What is the Work Program?
Blackburn has the only student-managed Work Program in the nation. As part of the Work Program, you will develop the critical leadership, problem solving and management skills that employers are searching for. There’s a reason Blackburn has a 97.5% placement rate for graduates.
Not only that, but you will receive a $5,000 credit every year to reduce your tuition expenses. There are more than 150 positions — including jobs with the Business Office, Campus Maintenance, Campus Safety, Student Life and Technology Services — where students help run day-to-day operations for the college. Will my credits from MacMurray transfer?
Absolutely! In an effort to provide the best possible experience for students transitioning from MacMurray College to Blackburn College, Blackburn College has prepared several transfer options for MacMurray College students. MacMurray students are welcome to transfer to Blackburn and enroll in any major or minor. Detailed transfer plans are included in the document below (pdf) for majors with the closest match to Blackburn majors.
Once we receive your transcripts, Blackburn will complete an individualized degree completion plan for all transfer and Teach Out students.
What about tuition, scholarships, and grants?
Tuition, Fees, and Expenses:
Tuition for all transferring MacMurray College students into Blackburn College will be the same as that for other Blackburn students, a rate of $24,950.00 per year for full-time students for the 2020-2021 academic year. Room and board for the 2020-2021 academic year, the room cost for an air-conditioned room is $5100.00 and $4,300.00 for non-air conditioned room. Board cost is $3500.00.
Scholarships & Grants:
Blackburn College will offer MacMurray College students the following scholarships or grants to apply toward anticipated costs for MacMurray College transfer and teach out students as long as the student maintains consecutive full-time enrollment.
The MacMurray Promise
Awarded to new full-time undergraduate students who meet transfer admission requirements and participate in the College’s Work Program and begin full-time classes at Blackburn College by February 1, 2021.
The program awards MacMurray transfer and teach out students a $13,000 MacMurray Promise grant plus a $5,000 Tuition Work Credit totaling $18,000.
Students who may qualify for any federal or state aid will receive that funding along with the MacMurray Promise, although aid awarded will not exceed Blackburn College’s direct costs for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Next, submit your official transcripts.
Finally fill out your FAFSA form and add Blackburn College’s code (001639) before you submit. Once we receive your completed form, our team will begin putting together a financial aid package for you.
