The emphasis of this major is to provide candidates with professional coursework needed to pursue a career in education-related roles. This major does not lead to teacher licensure. All areas include field experience in area schools. Students complete capstone projects during their senior year related to their chosen area of study. .Students are required to select a minor with Educational Studies coursework. Programs are offered in the following areas:
- Education Paraprofessional
Students take education courses related to planning, teaching, assessing, and managing learning environments in preparation for becoming an organizational aide.
- Education Research and Writing
Students take coursework related to social science research, professional writing, educational methods, policy, process, and assessment.
- Writing and Designing Children’s Literature
Students take courses in education, language arts, reading, visual arts and English.
Students completing one of the Educational studies programs are qualified for the following job titles:
- Special Education Aide
- Information Research Specialist
- Publishing Assistant
- Research and Development Specialist
- Technical Writer
