Blackburn College’s Student Managed Work Program is designed to help you find and achieve your life plan. We accomplish this objective in five ways.
Providing opportunities to assume significant responsibilities for the training, development, scheduling, and supervision of student workers in the various work departments, as well as overall management of the Work Program.
- Experiential Learning
A “learning by doing” experience enables you to develop self-confidence and time management, communication, problem solving, and many other skills, abilities, and attributes valuable to life and career after college.
- Community, Teamwork, and Friendship
Learning, living, and working in cooperation with your fellow students, as well as in collaboration with college faculty and staff, to provide virtually all of the services needed by the college helps to create an added sense of community and opportunities for developing friendships and teamwork skills.
- Increased Employability
In addition to an academic degree, you leave Blackburn with a set of work skills upon which employers in the current work force place a premium.
- Tuition Reduction
Coupled with the gifts of Blackburn alumni, friends, and other donors, your work helps to keep the comprehensive costs of attendance lower than at most other private four-year colleges in the country.
