The Office of Marketing and Public Relations is the central point for all of the College’s internal and external communications efforts.
Job Description
Duties include:
- Creating and distributing press releases to the media outlets
- Designing/writing content/editing promotional materials; postcards, posters, brochures
- Updating the College website
- Developing and creating content for social media channels
- Providing photography/videography services at events; documenting campus life
These duties are assigned as tasks to each student worker based upon strengths and the interest of the worker. Being a learning environment, students will be encouraged to work in areas where they are less experienced. Because Blackburn campus is not a 9-5 operation, OMPR student workers may be called upon to work evenings and weekends. PR workers are required to be available to work during both homecoming and commencement weekends.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability and desire to interact with the public and campus stakeholders on a regular basis
- Reliable, flexible, and willingness to learn
The following qualifications are desired, but not required:
- Consideration is given to students who are currently, or have previously been enrolled in courses in graphic design, English and communications, marketing, photography, web design or have previous direct experience in web design.
- Special skills or experience related to photography, videography, graphics and website design, and content and social media writing
