Job Description
Duties include:
- Responsible for working all events in Bothwell that require Stage Lights or Sound
- THIS POSITION REQUIRES WORKING WITH HEIGHTS
- Responsible for running sound for events in Bothwell Auditorium, as well as running the soundboard (including mixing multiple performer microphones) for Blackburn Music and Theatre productions
- During performances, check out and check back in all microphone equipment to performers
- Perform sound check with each individual performer using a microphone before each performance
- Responsible for finding and editing necessary sound cues needed for plays and musicals.
- Responsible for tech rehearsals for events using the projector (PowerPoint presentations, movies, etc.) in Bothwell.
- May assist in the regular sweeping and mopping of the stage floor during rehearsals and performances, and filling in for the Stage Manager when necessary
- May be required to attend musical rehearsals to play recorded music for dancers and singers
- Assist with the maintenance of lighting instruments, including working in high places. This includes assisting with the setup and teardown of the scaffolding to reach the lights over the seating area, as well as using the hydraulic genie.
- Responsible for running light for events in Bothwell, including Blackburn Music and Theatre productions
- Program and Design light cues for Music and Theatre productions and CAB events as necessary.
- Responsible (with assistance) for the maintenance of lighting instruments, primarily changing blown out lamps. This requires working in high places.
- Must learn how to safely set up, take down, and balance the scaffolding, as well as how to use the hydraulic lift.
- May assist in the regular sweeping and mopping of the stage floor during rehearsals and performances, and filling in for the Stage Manager when necessary
- Other duties as assigned by THEATRE FACULTY
Qualifications
- Must be dependable, prompt and work well without immediate supervision
- Must have a good ear for sound balancing
- Must be dependable and prompt
- Creativity is a plus, and an interest in how lighting conveys time, place, and mood in a production.
