Blackburn College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jean Bradley to the faculty, bringing with her a distinguished record of academic scholarship, professional expertise, and impactful teaching in accounting, auditing, and financial governance. Dr. Bradley joined the faculty in January 2025.
Dr. Bradley holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio, as well as a Master of Science in Accountancy from the same institution. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and French from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), both of which are currently inactive.
An accomplished academic, Dr. Bradley’s research focuses on the intersection of accounting and public policy, with particular interest in internal controls and governance in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Her recent publications appear in journals such as the International Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Performance Evaluation, AIS Educator Journal, and Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management.
Dr. Bradley previously held faculty appointments at Eastern Washington University, Texas State University, and the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has taught a wide array of accounting courses—both online and in person—at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Auditing, Accounting Information Systems, Intermediate Accounting, and Financial Statement Analysis.
Her extensive industry background includes senior finance and audit roles in the non-profit and corporate sectors, including Director of Finance at KIPP San Antonio, Interim CFO of the Normandy Schools Collaborative, and Director of Audit Services at SBC Communications (now AT&T). Her experience spans internal controls, SOX compliance, GAAP accounting, and leadership in financial operations.
Dr. Bradley’s diverse expertise and commitment to academic excellence align closely with Blackburn’s mission to prepare students for leadership and service in their professions and communities.
