Blackburn College continues to broaden its competitive opportunities for students with the launch of its new Clay Target program. The program is designed not only to introduce students to one of the fastest-growing collegiate sports but to prepare them to train and compete at an elite level.
Leading this initiative is Head Coach Lauren Dunn, whose championship background and coaching experience position Blackburn for early success. Dunn arrives from Lindenwood University, where she served as a coach for the past three years. During her tenure, she helped lead teams that secured four national championships, with her athletes consistently appearing on podiums and advancing to championship rounds across multiple disciplines.
Her coaching philosophy is grounded in high-level preparation—technical mastery, disciplined routines, and the mental resilience required to perform under pressure. Dunn understands what it takes to compete and win at the collegiate and national level, and she brings that experience directly into Blackburn’s new program.
“Clay target sports require consistency and mental focus,” Coach Dunn said. “My vision is to give students a well-structured place to learn and develop their skills to be part of a program that represents Blackburn with pride and discipline in competition.”
That vision centers on building a program defined by high expectations—where students train with purpose, learn to handle competitive pressure, and develop the habits that successful teams rely on. Dunn’s goal is not simply for Blackburn to participate in competitions, but to grow into a respected contender capable of standing alongside established programs.
With Coach Dunn’s leadership, expertise, and championship mindset, Blackburn is laying the foundation for a Clay Target program built to grow, compete, and win.
