Blackburn Invites Community to Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation on Monday, January 27
Blackburn College will host its annual Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Convocation on Monday, January 27, 2025, in Bothwell Auditorium at 11:00 am CST. This year’s event will highlight the creative and powerful voices of Blackburn students, who will deliver spoken-word performances and personal interpretations to honor the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The convocation will also feature the MLK Student Leadership Award presentation, recognizing individuals who embody Dr. King’s values of service, inclusion, and leadership.
The MLK Convocation, free and open to the public, provides a meaningful opportunity for the campus and the greater Carlinville community to come together in reflection and celebration of Dr. King’s enduring legacy. Following the Convocation, Blackburn’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging team will host a “Lunch & Learn” session in the Demuzio Campus Center focusing on Coretta Scott King and The King Center. Guests from the community are encouraged to purchase lunch from Schmidt Commons before joining the “Lunch & Learn” event in the Auxiliary Dining Rooms.
Coordination of the MLK Convocation is a collaborative effort between the Office of Student Life and the Lois B. DeFleur Student Success Center. For more information, please visit blackburn.edu/mlk or contact Alia Stewart, Director of Student Engagement.
