Blackburn to Host Annual Veterans Day Convocation on November 11

Community Invited to Attend; Complimentary Appreciation Lunch to Follow for Veterans

Blackburn College will hold its annual Veterans Day Convocation on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at 11:00 am in Clegg Chapel. American Legion Post 554 will serve as the color guard as the College honors United States military veterans. The event is open to Blackburn students, faculty, staff, and members of the surrounding community. A complimentary appreciation lunch for veterans will follow in the Demuzio Campus Center.

Blackburn College President Larry K. Lee emphasized the importance of the annual Veterans Day Convocation as an opportunity for the campus and surrounding communities to come together in recognition of those who have served. “Veterans Day reminds us that the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy are made possible by generations of individuals who have answered the call to serve,” Lee said. “At Blackburn, we have a deep appreciation for the value of service and the difference it makes in the lives of others. This convocation is one small way to show our gratitude, and we are pleased to welcome veterans, their families, and our neighbors to campus on this important occasion.”

This year, the convocation will feature guest speaker Barry Schulhofer, a retired United States Air Force Chief Master Sergeant. During his 23-year career, Schulhofer completed 13 assignments worldwide and deployed multiple times, gaining extensive experience in military leadership, teamwork, and service.

As a senior enlisted leader, his career was shaped by integrity, service, and excellence, along with a deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by service members and their families. Schulhofer is married to Ann, a retired Air Force Master Sergeant, and together they are the proud parents of two sons.

Blackburn College’s Office of the Provost coordinates the convocation, which will feature vocal and instrumental performances by the College Choir, Dr. Joseph Welch, and Dr. See Tsai Chan.
