About Me

Craig Newsom brings a diverse background to his teaching role at Blackburn, including an MFA from the University of Chicago and experience in public relations and publishing. His involvement in organizing mobile digital art conferences at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts (2010-2011) spurred the creation of Coalfather Industries, a collaborative arts team. Coalfather’s video, performance, and installation work have been presented in varied national and international venues, including Argentina’s Auditorio Jorge Luis Borges, Germany’s Bauhaus-Universität, and the historic Fort Jay on Governors Island in New York. He is currently the Pegram Endowed Chair of the Art Department.
