The Blackburn College Department of Music & Theatre will perform their spring musical “Songs of Cole Porter” in Bothwell Auditorium on Friday, April 29th at 7pm, Saturday, April 30th at 7pm, and Sunday, May 1st at 2pm. The event includes an original music review of classic Cole Porter numbers performed by students. This event also includes choreography from senior Theatre major Hannah Bergdorf and music direction from Dr. Joseph Welch, professor of Music.
Laura Matthews, visiting professor of Theatre and director of the performance, encouraged the community to come see the first full musical Blackburn College has hosted since before the pandemic. “Come hear classic Cole Porter songs with a modern twist! It’s a fun and entertaining way, for all ages, to support students and the Department of Music and Theatre,” she explained.
Reservations and masks are required for the event. Tickets are $10 for general admission and free to students, faculty, and staff. To reserve your tickets or for more information, contact the Music Office at (217) 854-5704 or email music@blackburn.edu.
“Songs of Cole Porter” will mark the final Music & Theatre event for Blackburn’s 2021-2022 season. Events for the fall have already been added to the calendar, including the Blackburn Music Showcase (September 23), Fall Play (November 4-6), and the annual Christmas at Blackburn holiday event (December 4).
