Campus Maintenance provides the Blackburn community with general maintenance of campus buildings; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning maintenance; maintenance of campus utilities such as water and electricity; upkeep of the campus grounds; and services to conferences and special events. All Campus Maintenance workers are members of Campus Maintenance first and a member of their sub-department second. Although you have been placed on a specific crew, you may be asked to help another sub-department if needed, this can result in some student workers being cross trained. Each department may work together to accomplish the many different tasks involved in maintenance work. Students are also required to wear hard sole work boots, as well as provide their own work clothes.
Job Description
Crew Heads are expected to perform and give assigned tasks in a workmanlike fashion to the best of their ability. It is also important that they make sure each job site is cleaned up after use, and leaving the work site as neat or neater than they found it. Crew Heads will be given certain keys and will have the opportunity to be on call that will account towards their tuition or paid hours. They are expected to take authority and notify either the assistant manager or manger if there are issues within the crew or sub department. They will also be expected to show up whenever there is snow removal in the mornings when it comes to the winter months.
Qualifications
Student must have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA, have good teamwork, leadership, and customer service skills
