Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)

Athletics

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, better known as SAAC, is a student-run club, is designed to serve as a local student-athlete voice in addressing issues of student-athlete welfare of their respective institutions, as well as breach the gap between campus and community through community service acts.

The NCAA Division III definition is:

“(SAAC) represents the Division III student-athlete voice in the Division III governance structure by reviewing legislation; identifying significant student-athlete issues; implementing national student-athlete based initiatives; encouraging community outreach; and enhancing Division III student-athlete involvement in and understanding of Division III in general. The SAAC is also the committee that is primarily responsible for maintaining and coordinating the division’s nationwide partnership with the Special Olympics.”

Past events SAAC has hosted include a community trunk or treat, community service projects with the Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled, the local food pantry, and the Animal Shelter. They also pump up athletic teams and create a fan base for each game.

People should join SAAC if they want to serve as a conduit of communication among student-athletes, coaches and athletics administrators on issues to improve the student-athlete experience and promote growth and education through sports participation.
