Alumni Early Achievement Award

The Alumni Early Achievement Award honors alumni who have demonstrated significant achievements before the age of 40. The individual(s) must have retained a strong association in some capacity with the College including philanthropic support, volunteer service, and/or an advocacy role. This individual has demonstrated leadership ability or attained prominence in their business, profession, or endeavors. The individual should be involved in community service or civic engagement in some level in his/her local or global community.

Noelia Martínez-Voigt: A Legacy of Creativity, Inspiration, and Educational Excellence

Noelia Martínez-Voigt represents the very best of Blackburn College’s mission: the belief that education has the power to transform lives and inspire generations. An extraordinary educator, artist, mentor, and proud Blackburn alumna, Noelia has built a remarkable career grounded in

creativity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to helping every student discover their own voice.

Ten years ago, Noelia moved from Bolivia to the United States with a dream of continuing her education and building a future through learning. Her journey at Blackburn College became the foundation for an inspiring career in education. Through the Blackburn Accelerated Teaching Licensure Program, she developed the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become an educator who not only teaches art, but uses creativity as a powerful tool for self-expression, connection, and personal growth.

In recognition of her outstanding impact, Noelia was recently honored as the recipient of the 2026 Illinois Outstanding Early Career Educator of the Year Award. This prestigious recognition reflects the extraordinary achievements she has accomplished in a remarkably short time and

highlights the influence she has already had on the lives of her students and the broader educational community.

As an art educator serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade, Noelia has created classrooms where every student feels valued, recognized, and empowered. She believes that every student has a story worth sharing and encourages them to express themselves through their

creative work. Her teaching extends far beyond artistic techniques; she nurtures confidence, curiosity, and the belief that each student has something meaningful to contribute.

Noelia continues to strengthen her connection to Blackburn College and remains a dedicated ambassador for the institution that helped shape her career. She serves as an adjunct art professor, shares her talents as a member of the Blackburn Community Choir, and actively supports future

generations of students. She has encouraged her high school artists to submit their work to Blackburn art exhibitions and consistently takes time to mentor students as they consider their college journeys, proudly sharing the opportunities and experiences Blackburn provides.

Through her teaching, mentorship, and continued involvement with Blackburn, Noelia embodies the values of excellence, service, and community. She is not only an accomplished educator but also a bridge between Blackburn and the next generation of learners.
