Blackburn College Welcomes Dr. Sharon Bloch to Biology Faculty

Blackburn College is proud to welcome Dr. Sharon R. Bloch as a new member of the biology faculty. Dr. Bloch brings more than two decades of research experience and a decade of dedicated college-level teaching to her new role at Blackburn, where she will contribute to the College’s dynamic science curriculum.

Dr. Bloch earned her Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from Saint Louis University and holds a Bachelor of Science in both Biology and Chemistry from Millikin University. After a distinguished career in biomedical research, she transitioned to full-time teaching in 2015, beginning at Lincoln Christian University and most recently at Indiana University–Columbus.

Over the past ten years, Dr. Bloch has taught a wide range of biology and chemistry courses, including Anatomy and Physiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and general education science courses. Her areas of academic and research interest include cell cycle regulation, cellular differentiation, and cellular responses to oxidative stress.

Outside of the classroom, Dr. Bloch is an avid knitter, accordion player, and a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears.
