Blackburn College invites the community to celebrate its 2023 Homecoming & Family Weekend beginning September 29. This year’s beach-themed “Weekend at Barney’s” – named for Blackburn’s beloved beaver – will bring some summer fun to the annual fall tradition. All of the events during the weekend build up to Barney’s Beach Bash – a Saturday night block party featuring food trucks and music from Dueling Pianos, located outside between Demuzio Campus Center and Dawes Gymnasium. Events throughout the weekend are open to all alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends of Blackburn.

Alisha Kapp, Blackburn’s Executive Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations, believes Homecoming & Family Weekend is a great opportunity to celebrate as a campus and a community. “This is a special time of year where Blackburn alumni return to campus, not only to catch up with the latest happenings at the College but to also revisit and reconnect with our Carlinville community,” she said. “We welcome our friends from Carlinville and the region to gather with us and enjoy our lively offerings throughout the eventful weekend.”

The Weekend features athletic competitions and fun-filled tournaments, opportunities to enjoy art exhibits and live theatre, inflatables, memorable social gatherings, and so much more. Activities include:

  • Cocktails & Karaoke – Friday at 7:00 pm
Have a main character moment at this popular Homecoming event, even if you’ve never tried karaoke! Join us for a few cheeky cocktails and karaoke to your heart’s content. DJ Bella Event and DJ Services will spin the tunes all night!
