Student Success Paraprofessional Part-Time

Blackburn College, a unique four-year liberal arts college with a student-managed work program located in Carlinville, IL, has an immediate need for a part-time paraprofessional to support student success during evening hours. This role is crucial in helping students build essential academic skills, such as study strategies, time management, organization, and note-taking. The paraprofessional will also assist with library resources, promote tutoring services, and foster a welcoming study environment. This position reports to the Director of Student Success.

This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with students during evening hours, helping them develop essential academic skills, such as study strategies, time management, organization, and note-taking. The paraprofessional will play a key role in fostering a positive learning environment, supporting students’ academic growth, and ensuring that library services align with the college’s mission of student success. A background in reading instruction or experience as a reading specialist is a plus, as the paraprofessional will assist students with literacy skills.

A Bachelor’s degree is required. Previous experience in a library or academic setting is preferred, but not required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to excellent customer service. Ability to work independently and responsibly during evening hours with minimal supervision. Basic familiarity with library operations and technology, including computers, printers, and research databases. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Comfortable working in a team environment and contributing to the mission of the library.

Compensation is $15.00 per hour. This position requires evening work hours. Specific shifts and schedules will be determined based on the library’s needs and the candidate’s availability.
