Pictured left to right are Dr. John Lapp, Terry Hammer, and Cress Maddox in the Blackburn College indoor athletic facility.

Cress Maddox, Blackburn Trustee, provided a lead gift naming the Center in honor of his father, a champion golfer in his youth. Former Trustee John Lapp and his wife Paula have chosen to name the putting green, while alumnus Terry Hammer ’78 selected the golf locker room.

The trio recently toured the building and saw progress on the new 40,000-square-foot center that will provide indoor space for eight of the college’s NCAA Division III athletic programs and critical space for intramurals and recreation on campus. They are in the southwest portion of the building that will become the Cress “Bud” Maddox Golf Performance Center.

There are a few additional naming opportunities within the Maddox Golf Performance Center, including two golf simulators. A limited number of naming opportunities are still available within other areas of the new Blackburn Athletic Center and Dawes Gymnasium, which will undergo significant renovations this summer.
