Blackburn students majoring in Physical Education and Sport Management study the development of the whole person – not just physical ability.
Classroom instruction features discussion and programs to engage students, who “learn by doing” with hands-on activity in a family-oriented, supportive environment. Faculty have an open-door policy, and take pride in their students’ achievements and development. Small class sizes encourage interpersonal relationships.
Team management and individual roles are studied to build leadership and self-reliance. The methodology to understanding the whole person is stressed, emphasizing the three key domains of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor.
Blackburn graduates in Physical Education and Sport Management acquire life lessons that help them succeed not just in the workplace, but as good citizens. That is one reason that the department has such a high job placement rate.
The bar for success is set high in Physical Education and Sport Management, and students are encouraged to “expect the best and work for it.”
