The Early Alert Support Team (EAST) exists to serve and support the well-being, safety, and success of each member of our community. In order for EAST to be effective in this mission, it is important for all members of the community to share information about students of concern. This may include but is not limited to, any student who has experienced the loss of a loved one, needs additional academic or financial support, is dealing with any physical or mental health challenges, or has expressed thoughts of harm to self or others.
Please utilize the EAST Referral Form when you observe a member of the Blackburn community behaving in a way that may be harmful to themselves or others, or in a way that makes you concerned for their wellbeing. When a referral is submitted, it will be sent to the members of the team to assess the situation and assign a case manager to provide outreach to the student. The case manager will work to gather information about the student’s situation and needs, connect the student to resources to better support their success (such as academic coaching, mental health support, Benevolent Beaver funds, or disability accommodations), and connect back to the referral source to share updates (as appropriate) or request additional information.
Questions about this form can be directed to east@blackburn.edu, which is monitored daily (Monday through Friday) by the chair or co-chair of EAST.
DO NOT use this form for EMERGENCY situations. EAST is not an emergency response team. Call 911 in the case of an emergency.
