Week of Welcome logo

As you approach your entry into Beaver Nation, we are excited to tell you how you will get your college journey off to an outstanding start — Blackburn’s Week of Welcome!

As new students to the College, your Blackburn journey begins with your first class during the Week of Welcome (WOW). Whether you will be living on campus or commuting, WOW is your opportunity to connect with your peers and establish Blackburn as YOURS.

In this class, Work College 101, you will receive training for your job in the Work Program and attend a series of faculty-facilitated workshops intended to prepare you for the classroom and college community.

Faculty-Facilitated Workshops

  • Navigating Canvas & Portal
  • Academics at Blackburn
  • Campus Resources
  • Professional Communication
  • Studying and Time Management

You will have plenty of time to make new friends and meet with your fellow Beavers, attend practice if you’re a fall athlete, and settle into your new home away from home. The week will offer nightly social events and exclusive learning experiences, including:

  • Dessert with the President
  • Clubs and Organizations Fair
  • Meet Shelter Puppies and Kittens and Adopt-A-Plant Activities
  • Sand Volleyball Games and Water Balloon Dodgeball
  • Movie on the Quad
